On its interface, The Weather Channel desktop weather application displays lots of useful information about the weather: the current weather conditions for the location of your choice, hourly and 10-day forecast for the location you selected, seasonal info about cold & flu, info about pollen, videos about the weather, and maps.
Unfortunately, The Weather Channel desktop weather application displays something else on its interface: ads.

The Weather Channel is available as an application for desktop computers powered by Windows XP, Vista, and 7. This is the version I installed on my PC. This is the version I reviewed.
The Weather Channel is also available for devices powered by Windows 8 and 8.1.
The Weather Channel is also available for iOS on Apple’s App Store and for Android on Google Play and Amazon.

The Weather Channel’s interface provides support for themes. If you don’t like the default theme, you can switch to something else. There’s a theme that presents cats, one that presents dogs, one that focuses on fitness, one that focuses on Christmas, and so on.

By using the search function you can find locations around the world. Select a location and The Weather Channel will display useful weather info: the current weather conditions (temperature, pressure, humidity, the time the sun rises, and more); hourly weather forecast; 10-day weather forecast. On top of that, The Weather Channel provides access to videos, maps, information about seasonal nuisances like pollen count or cold & flu, weather alerts.

The Weather Channel is free software. All versions, the app for Windows XP through 7, the app for Windows 8 and 8.1, the app for iOS, and the app for Android, they’re all free. Please note that when you install The Weather Channel on your Windows PC, you will be presented with offers to install additional software. You should also note that ads are displayed on the application’s interface.

Stay on top of the weather with the aptly named The Weather Channel desktop weather application.

Pros

The Weather Channel is available for multiple platforms: Window XP through 7, Windows 8 and 8.1, iOS, Android. The interface provides support for themes. You can easily find locations, you can easily switch from one location to another. Useful information about the weather is presented: current conditions, hourly forecast, 10-day forecast, weather alerts. Access maps and videos. The Weather Channel is free software.

Cons

Ads are displayed on the interface.
